Need-to-Know Info

Average Weather

In Cuba, the climate is tropical, with a dry and relatively cool season from late November to mid-April, and a rainy and muggy season from late April to early November. The climate is fairly uniform from one area to the other.

Currency

Bring plenty of small bills (1, 5, 10, 20). Dollar bills ($1) are handy for tipping. Never use foreign coins.

EUR and USD are the most useful currencies. GBP and CAD are often accepted, but may not be accepted in all restaurants, casas, taxis, etc., so we recommend changing to EUR or USD.

Languages Spoken

The official language of the Republic of Cuba is Spanish, and - given the high level of literacy of Cubans - use is correct and ample with “cubanismos” or idiosyncratic words. Many people speak english, and those working in tourism tend to also speak German, French, Italian, and Russian.

Transportation Options

Private taxis and classic cars can be booked in advance for airport transfers, and also for day trips out from your resort. Most resorts have a handy concierge or doorman who will know a friendly driver, your agent can also arrange transportation for your trip.
